ABOUT ME |
A little bit about how Built-By-A-Girl, LLC came to be. Long, long ago, in a little town called New Boston, Michigan, just outside of Detroit, offered an environment of exploring the outdoors and being creative to entertain yourself for the simple fact it was the 70’s, and where I lived, the woods and the backyard were your playground. I was the kind of kid that liked to build stuff and be active. From taking the old AM radio apart and putting it back together, building forts out of logs and old scraps, and of course you can’t forget making stilts out of 2x4’s and duct tape. Yep, a sure sign you’re from the 70’s. From there life kind of happens. I played a ton of sports and went to college starting in Drafting and Design and Marketing then ended up graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Park Management.
Fast forward, I worked for the City of Livonia, Michigan, for 20 years in various roles such as the Assistant Facility Manager, Marketing Coordinator and then later became the City’s Economic Development Coordinator. While I loved what I did, it was at the end of my 20-year career with the City that my soul starting stirring inside me about what I wanted to do with this next chapter of my life. I knew I loved home renovation and doing projects, so I decided to take steps towards completing the Residential Builders License Exam in the spring of 2019. I'm beyond thrilled to say I passed my first try! Two months from the exam date was my last day with the City. Taking the leap into starting my business seemed as though the plan was already written; I was just stepping into what was already in store for me. I’m proud to say, I'm doing what I love and what brings joy to my soul no matter what the task at hand is.
Thanks again for spending some time with Built-By-A-Girl, it truly means the world to me. If you have any projects that might need a professional woman’s touch, and you’re in the Metro Detroit Area, I’d love to hear from you.
